Hi, my question is a two part question. What is the area right above one s butt crack called, I noticed it on my boyfriend this weekend as he bent over to get something his butt cracked showed but he has an area below his lower back but above the butt crack which is a bit hollow and it was discolorated. It looked like he had fungus or something in that area it looked the same way as someone with athlete s foot the fold in between the toes? Hope this makes sense and is that possible to have fungus growing there also what should he put on there to get rid of it?
The area you want to know is intergluteal fold and the disease he developed there is intergluteal candidal intertrigo. You are right, it is yeast or candidal infection which looks whitish and the skin may be eroded. Antifungal like Itroconazole and antihistaminics like Cetirizine might improve the condition. Apply Clotrimazole lotion on the affected area. Keep the area dry. Avoid excessive water and soap contact.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
