Why Would One Have A Break Out Of Hives Like Itchy Rashes And Chills After A Shoulder Joint Replacement When Diagnosed With Hashimoto S Disease?

My sister has broken out in a hive like rash after a shoulder joint replacement. This happened 4 days after surgery. We think it is a betadine allergy, but want to know what treatments are available. She is 72, has hoshimotos disease. The welts are rather large and extremely itchy. Redness in face, chilling with no fever no respiratory distress.
