Why Would The Glued Incision After A Total Knee Replacement Surgery Fall Apart?

My name is Chuck and I am 67 years old. I had a total replacement of my left knee on 11-9-16. I have constant severe pain along with very much swelling. When I first had my replacement and my knee was closed and ready for healing only to find out about 10 days that I was bleeding inside and a hemetoma developed, thus they did another surgery to stop the bleeding and clean up things the best they could. Now after almost 2 years my doctor had a bone scan done and found out that the glue on the upper part of my knee never di hold and the lower part is almost completely apart. My question is why would the glue come undone and what should I expect with the next surgery? I might mention that I had polio at 16 months of age and my right leg was partially paralyzed . I am very concerned because my left leg is my go to leg.

Hi,

If there is wound gaping, you can consult your orthopedics and go for secondary suturing. It’s a simple procedure and can be done under local anesthesia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
