Wife Pregnant. Will A Scan Show When Implantation Occurred?
My wife had her last 2 periods on the 5th February and 6th March 2013. She had a one night stand on the 15th March 2013 but he used the withdrawal method but is now pregnant. I had intercourse with her on 16th March and at various times throughout the month both before and after as we are trying to conceive. She took a Clearblue Digital Test on 16th April which shows 1-2 weeks pregnant, 2-3 weeks pregnant and 3+ pregnant. Her result was positive 2-3 weeks. This means according to the test implantation occurred between the 27th March and 1st April give or take. Firstly am i right in assuming that if implantation occurred within those dates i count back 10 days to estimate when fertilization occurred. Also we are due our first scan on 31st May. Will the scan show when implantation occured? If so i could cross reference the dates to get a clearer picture. The stress is tearing me apart at the minute.
If your wife has a regular twenty eight day cycle then her most probable date of ovulation would have been the nineteenth which is on day fourteen of her cycle that started on the 6th. However, when it comes to the human body nothing can be so exact because the human body is not robotic but adapts to environmental and physiological/metabolic changes. Simple stress could delay the ovulation and even for some unknown reasons, ovulation could occur a day or two before or after the expected day of ovulation. Thus any unprotected intercourse 4 days before or after the fourteenth day of menses is likely to lead to pregnancy.
Implantation occurs between day 6 to day 12 after fertilization. Thus adding 6 to12 days to the 19th of march gives us that the probable period of implantation was between 25th and 1st which is similar to what you have.
An early ultrasound gives a appreciable value for age of pregnancy but does not tell with certitude the exact date of fertilization or implantation.
