Hello, I was recently prescribed 2 prednisone z packs and after those two packs were completed I prescribed a cordicosteroid ointment this I took for about 2 weeks. I am now about 2 weeks late for my period and I am experiencing occasional light symptoms that I'm going to start my period. I've heard of cordicosteroids effecting menstration. How long does this usually occur?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, I understand your concern. Corticosteroids do change menstrual cycle. But-Corticosteroid creams applied locally , takes very less amount of the drug in blood circulation. So the delay you have is due to the Z packs you had in the beginning must have caused the delay. It will last only for couple of months & return back to normal Please don't worry. Thanks..
