Will Mucum And Gencet Help In Reducing Cough And Fever For 2 Year Old ?

my 2 year ld has fever for two days and cough . I gav him prospan and Adol there is improvement as in the cough has gone but the nose is blocked. Can i give him MUcum ( ambroxol HCI ) and Gencet ( cetirizine Hydrochloride ) .He is also getting his molar teeth. Fever is still off an on .

Hello, if there is a fever still over 101F , it would be advisable to see your doctor. If it is getting better, he probably has a viral illness. Toddlers have many infections at their age, and most are viral and resolve within one week. The congestion can last a little longer than one week. If the drainage is yellow-green thick and persists more than 14days, or more fevers over 101F, he may need an antibiotic course. Teething generally does not cause high fever.
The over the counter preparations to treat congestion are generally not very helpful. If you buy nasal saline drops for children and gently suction out the mucus with a bulb placed just at the opening of the nostril, when there is congestion, you can keep the nasal passages clear. Nasal saline drops are available at most pharmacies and the pharmacist can assist you in finding the ones for children.
