Dear Doctor..I am suffering from RA for past 4 years. My age is 25 yrs...married, and have not given birth to a child yet. Hence I am worried about taking pain killers and steroids (which I was taking for a year , and have now stopped). Now I m in ayurvedic treatment for past 3 months. Will I be able to bear a child soon? Will RA make it difficult? Heard about Ozone Treatment. Will tht help me to cure faster?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
HI, I understand your concern. Rheumatoid arthritis does not interfere with ability to conceive. In Pregnancy the inflammation & pain reduces. also steroids can be safely taken in 2nd & 3rd trimester of pregnancy with due watch & care about raised blood sugar & high blood pressure.Supplementation with vitamines , calcium & vitamin d is a must. Changed life style of pregnant woman about avoiding excess body weight having healthy diet/ regular exercises/ avoiding tobacco chewing.& getting regular prenatal check up becomes mandatory. The flare up is seen after delivery.. if breast feeding mother has to take medicines according to expert advise. Avoid methotrexate. Thanks.
