He has a sml but deep gash on the scalp, the bleeding has stopped and i cleaned it. He seems to be ok. this happened about 1hr ago. Can I avoid the e.r.? A trip with three kids..not easy!!!

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

If bleeding has stopped and wound is less than 0.5cm deep then yes you can manage at home with washing the wound and dressing with steri-strips. Yet, if it seems more than 0.5 cm deep it needs to be stitched for quick healing.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ammara Kaleem, Pediatrician
