Hello,

Popping sound is indicative of penile fracture. It occurs due to rough, aggressive masturbation, woman on top sexual intercourse, during sexual acrobatics, etc. Popping sound with loss of erection occurs when the tunica albuginea gets torn, the blood that is normally confined in the corpora cavernosa leaks out into other tissues.

Thus, erection is affected and there is discomfort, bruising or swelling. Partial or complete tearing of the tunica albuginea can lead to scarring, and the buildup of scar tissue leads to erectile dysfunction or penile deviations / bending. You are advised not to neglect the medical condition from which you are suffering. Get clinically examined by a Urologist/Surgeon. You are likely to be recommended surgery.

Penile fractures need to be treated by surgery. If the tear is small, few sutures are given. But in case the tears are extensive a greater number of stitches are given. The wound heals is about a month thereafter sex can be resumed after complete healing of the wound.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
