Will Augmentin Cause Any Harm To My Baby Inside My Womb?

HI,

I am also 13weeks pregnant and found that I have infection in my urine. My Oby prescribed me augmentin 625 to be taken 1 in morning and 1 in evening for seven days. Is it would not cause any harm to my baby inside my womb.
I felt really afraid to take augmentin. Is there any other alternative solution. Thank you!

Hi, thanks for writing..
It is very important to treat the infection especially in pregnancy as this can spread to vagina and can cause premature rupture of membranes.. Augmentin is safe in pregnancy and this wont affect the fetus.. So you need not worry.. Please take those tablets as prescribed by your doctor.. Keep the genitalia clean and dry.. Drink lots of water and fruit juices that will help to alkalanize the urine.. Pass urine at frequent interval.. Hope I have answered your query.. Good day..
