Will Cold, Persistent Cough And Sneezing A Week After Robotic Nissen Fundoplication Surgery Hurt The Surgery Site?
Hi, I had a Robotic nissen fundoplication surgery last week. But, 4 days after the surgery I fell sick with common cold and have a really stubborn cough and also I am sneezing. Will this hurt my nissen wrap, should I be worried? Because ATM I am controlling my coughing and sneezing, to save my surgery from getting ruined. What are the chances? Please help!
Chronic cough should definitely be avoided post operatively. One of the causes for your cough could be post op atelectasis or pleural effusion, so other than medicines and lozenges do deep breathing exercises and incentive spirometry. Even after that, if it does not improve in a day or so, you should consider a consultation with a chest specialist to improve your chest condition and avoid adverse effect on fundoplication.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
