Will Eating Light Meals Have Any Harmful Effect On Bariatric Sleeve Operation?
hi..i did something stupid..i am about to have a bariatic sleeve operation on wednesday..and i am not suppose to eat anything other than protein shakes and fruits..but i coundn't control my self and had some lunch two days back..light meals i can say..how this will effect me?do i have to postpone the operation?can u please suggest me..i need ur help doc..
Hi. Thank for your query, albeit short and specific. Noted the history and understood your concerns. It is highly advisable to have no meals before bariatric surgery but since you are undergoing only gastric sleeve but no mini-gastric bypass or so, there would not be much problems and an X-ray can know whether there is fecolith formation or gases that can be treated with Dulcolax and activated charcoal or peglac solution is advised by the team of the people involved in your Surgery. So no worry; consult your Doctor or a Nurse to know whether any action is necessary or not, there may not be necessary to postpone the surgery.
