Will Excessive Bleeding, Fever And Ovary Pain After An Abortion Need Hospitalization?
Hi, may I answer your health queries right now ? Please type your query here...I. I have a friend who had an abortion w and half wEeks ago and needs t have a d and c tom. She has lost a lot of blood her h and h is low and has no energy. She has a low grade fever and pain in her left ovary. Will they keep her in the hospital?
If your friend has developed excessive bleeding with fever, the chances of infection are very high. This infection could have been as a result of incomplete evacuation of the uterus. If she is having any foul smelling vaginal discharge, the diagnosis of infection is as good as confirmed.
Ultrasonography will reveal whether any of the products of conception are still present in the uterine cavity. If so, she would need surgical evacuation of the uterus under antibiotics umbrella. Moreover, she is anaemic and very week. So she should be managed as indoor patient; hence would require admission to the hospital. May be she will require blood transfusion. If blood is not required, she should start iron tablets and high protein diet immediately.
Please follow her Gynaecologist's advice religiously.
I hope this helps you.
