Will Flagyl Reduce Colon Swelling And Bladder Spasms?
Hello I am post op with radical hyst done jan 14th I started having bladder spasms after day 11 which have persisted since I can t fully empty my bladder Pressure is constant feeling like I have to pee No uti and stool test for c diff was negative today I started flagyl last night 1500 mg per day Ct scan showed Normal bladder but swollen colon Will flagyl reduce colon swelling and bladder spasms? Uripas did nothing Low grade fever off an on watery bowels but not real bad Still can urinate Is this spasm symptom normal this far out post op?

Low grade fever,watery bowels and swollen colon indicates intestinal infection.
It usually occurs due to consumed bad,stale food or water.
Flagyl will be helpful to control the infection of colon as well as bladder.
Flavoxate is antispasmodics. Flavoxate works by decreasing muscle spasms in the urinary tract and bladder.
If not getting relief from urispas then switch over to other anti spasmodic with nsaid under guidance of your treating doctor.
Take more liquid and simple diet.
Dink more and other liquids like buttermilk,lemon water,coconut water,ors formula.
Lactic acid bacillus with zinc will be helpful.
Keep in touch with your doctor.

As you were operated so chance of anaerobic infection was there ,so your doctor prescribe METRONIDAZOLE ( flagyl ).
As flagyl indicated for anaerobic bacterial infections.
Also indicated as for prophylaxis of post-operative anaerobic bacterial infection ( as this is very common ) that's why your doctor prescribe flagyl .
Flagyl is also indicated for antibiotics- associated colitis , may be a cause of intestinal swelling.
As far as concerned about desire of urination may be due to anxiety or swelling in intestine causes pressure over bladder.
In my opinion take full course of flagy as prescribed your doctor.
