age- 30 ht- 5 5 wt- 70 kg Hi I was 5 weeks pregnant with hgc=175....when I started spotting. When I went for another blood test, my hcg became 164. By then bleeding started. Not very heavy bleeding but like periods. The next hcg test showed 180 today. they did an ultrasound and said they cannot see anything. If this is a normal miscarriage, why did the hcg level rise? I am worried it may be ectopic...
Hi, Dr Purushottam Neurgaonkar here. I welcome you to HCM VIRTUAL CLINIC. I have gone through your question, and I think I have understood your concern. I will suggest you the best possible treatment options.
As such beta HCG test should show double the initial value after 72 hours. If not , there can be question about viability of the pregnancy or possibility of Ectopic pregnancy.
You need to repeat the Usg, to look for adnexal mass. This will help to rule out ectopic pregnancy. Or it can be a chemical pregnancy or non growing non viable pregnancy.
If uterine cavity is clear of blood or blood clots, you can simply opt for antibiotics for 5 days and need not go ahead for check curettage.
I hope this answer helps you. Thanks Dr Purushottam Neurgaonkar
