Will Infection During Pregnancy Affect Baby?

my daughter had an irregular heart rhythm for a few months, which was originally diagnosed as ectopic heart rhythm, but the irregular rhythm has now stopped so doctors say it was due to an infection. She has recently become pregnant, could the infection affect the baby

Hi, I have gone through your question. Infection prior to pregnancy most likely will not effect the fetus. But some infections like syphilis and cytomegalovirus do affect the foetus, even if it was before pregnancy. There are blood tests toconfirm the presence of infection in the mother, and amniocentesis can be done in the fetus to assess the fetal affection.
I suggest you to consult a fetal medicine specialist so that your daughter gets the appropriate treatment.
Hope you found the answer helpful.
Wishing you good health.
