Hi Mrs Joshi
Majority of women with fibroids give birth to healthy babies.
Infrequently they do cause some problems. So you should be under consultant care regularly. Fibroids cannot be treated during
pregnancy. The treatment given is only symptomatic.
Fibroid can increase in size rapidly especially in early pregnancy and can cause
severe pain necessitating hospitalisation. It can be treated with analgesics and IV fluids.
Sometimes this can initiate miscarraige.
It may cause early labour .
In a small minority in whom the placenta is located over the fibroid it can sometimes cause separation of the placenta leading to bleeding. You can find out the position of placenta in your next
ultrasound.
Rarely it can stunt the growth of the baby.
Since in your case the fibroid is situated in the upper
uterus which is favourable position I don't expect it to cause any other problems.
Keep me updated about the progress of your pregnancy.
If you have any further queries do write to me. I will be happy to answer.
By the way don't worry about the ovaries. Some women do have
polycystic ovaries.
