my son is 5+month only and in 15 days he had diarrhoea twice very badly like 10 stool per day and its green colour very sticky and bubbles are also in that.i had given zanocin syrup twice a day and econorm sachet one in a day for total 5 days.is it ok to give zanocin?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood your concerns. Since the patient, your son is only 5 months old, it is not advisable to self-medicate unless seen and prescribed by a Pediatrician. Zanocin is Ofloxacin, an antibiotic hence should be given only after a prescription. Remember this next time. Econorm is fine. Also needed is to get the stool tests done anytime such problems occur in future. Watch for the progress of hte child, get the stool tests done and get an opinion of a Pediatrician for proper evaluation and treatment as needed.
