Yes, it is safe to take Tapazole for
subclinical hyperthyroidism, i.e. if you have symptoms of hyperthyroidism that interfere with your daily routine and became a problem for you like your
night sweats, irritation and insomnia.
At the other side, these symptoms can be attributed even to
menopause. Your thyroid tests were normal and these means that it is not necessary to increase your Tapazole dosage because if you increase the dosage it can cause
hypothyroidism.
I cannot explain why you have menopausal symptoms at 65 but, I can say that in your circumstances, the
contraceptive pills can be helpful. So, I agree with your doctor.
Anyway, I suggest discussing carefully with your doctor about the risks of long-term use of contraceptive pills.
