Will It Cause Kidney Problems To My Baby After Birth?
Hi, I'm 22 week pregnant.ultrasound scan indicated tat my baby has bilateral renal pelvictacis/ renal pelvic dilution..right renal pelvis is 5.1 mm and left is 5.8mm. I' m worried a lot after knowing this. Will it cause kidney problems to my baby after birth. Is it dangerous. Can it be cured or not.doctor suggested me for another ultrasound scan at 30 th week.what would happen if rpd increases. Is there any chance to make it normal through food diet during pregnancy..why rpd occurs..is that occurs due to any vitamin deficiency or any chromosomal abnormality
I can understand your concern and I hope to put your mind at ease. Pyelectasis (dilated renal pelvis) is only a serious problem if the amniotic fluid is low and the baby's bladder can't be seen. If the ureters (the tubes that connect the kidneys to the bladder) are obstructed, the renal pelvis is usually dilated to 10 to 20mm. If the amniotic fluid and bladder are ok, pyelectasis is harmless and has no implications for the health of the pregnancy or for the baby growing up. I have seen what you are describing dozens of times, always with a healthy baby and the pediatricians usually don't need to do another ultrasound after the baby is born. Hope that helps - best of luck
