1) what is success rate of medical abortion? 2) Will it affect future pregnancy? 3) If I should go for it. which is best hospital in Bangalore to do it? 4) if tissue remains in womb? what need to be done?
Hello, When you wish to have a medical abortion, the protocol to be followed is to see a specialist, get a clinical evaluation and confirmation/exclusion of pregnancy, a pregnancy test, a trans-vaginal sonogram to look for the location of the gestation sac and also the age of the pregnancy, blood counts and urinalysis. The medication is prescribed in proper dosage by the specialist and the procedure is done under medical surveillance. Thus performed, it has very good success rate and future pregnancies are not affected if it is done under strict sterile precautions and not repeated often. A follow up sonogram and a clinical evaluation after the procedure is complete will check for any retained products, and if this happens, a surgical evacuation is then done, though this is rare in very early pregnancy. You have several good gynecologists in Bangalore to perform this. Hope this helps.
