Will Melalite Cream Help Subside Scars Caused By Lichen Planus?
Doc i am having scars after an episode of litchen planus.Was advised to use melalite cream for lightening of the scars as they are too many in number and at visible areas.Upon 2 days of application i see the scars change color to reddish brown from dull grey.The scars are now looking more prominent rathen than lightening out! i am worried.Please help

I really appreciate your concern, if this is lichen lesion then this will not go away with the Melalite cream, because this is not the melanin disorder, because this is more a kind of autoimmune disease, that affects the mucocutaneuos, corticosteroid treatment helps some time, but the final diagnosis is must, hope this information helps you, have nice day.

Lichen planus resolves with post inflammatory hyperpigmentation which is bluish/violaceous in color because of the fact that melanocytes release there pigment in the dermis which is subsequently phagocytosed by macrophages. This dermal pigment appears blue due to tyndall effect.
Since pigmentation is located deep in the dermis therefore it takes longer to fade.
Melalite forte is a good choice and i would recommend that you continue with it for a month or so. Since melalite fore can cause the surrounding skin to become lighter in color therefore be careful in the application of this cream so that you apply it only to the hyperpigmented spots.
An oral Vit C supplement would also prove beneficial
