Hi, Thanks for the query. Progesterone injections help in preventing premature uterine contractions. And thereby prevent abortions and preterm deliveries to some extent. Primulot belongs to category D drugs in pregnancy. According to studies it may lead to some adverse effects. Though there are no much evidences in regular practice, better to be careful. Using natural micronized progesterone is a better alternative. Natural micronized progesterone belongs to category B drug. This is may not harm the baby according to animal studies. So, discuss this things with your doctor and follow her advice. Along with this, taking bed rest and restricting physical activity is recommended. Take care.
Hello, Primolut is not recommended in pregnancy. If there is bleeding at 16 weeks of pregnancy, hormonal deficiency as a cause is less likely and other causes like trauma, placental insufficiency, infection etc., should be looked in to. Please consult a specialist in high risk pregnancy at once and get a proper advise and assessment. Meanwhile ask her to take absolute bed rest, avoid all strenuous activity including intercourse. A sonogram should be helpful. Hope you find this information useful. Take care.
