Will Quitting Of Smoking Help Reduce The Cholesterol Level?
My total cholesterol came back at 280. after changing my lifestyle of eating more lean chicken, turkey and fish organic everything and cut out white flour and sugar for the most part. I am 5 8 and weight 143 dropping 13 pounds in 2 months. I can t do much more EXCEPT stop smoking which I did yesterday will this help drop my cholesterol.
Yes, you will certainly benefit in more than one way by giving up smoking which is bad for your heart and lungs. When you give up smoking, your risk for heart disease reduces considerably as cigarette smoke reduces good cholesterol or HDL which is primarily responsible for removing bad or LDL cholesterol from the arteries. HDL protects your heart from damage and must remain high to reduce heart disease risk.
