Will Restozeal Lower High Blood Cholesterol And Omega 3?
i have somewhat high blood cholesterol.. with good HDL, i have been taking Red Yeast Rice..( and after blood test) it really works.. but i live in Nepal.. and i cannot find it.. i have read about restozzeal.. i am not satified with answer.. what about omega 3?
Hello! Restozeal is actually resveratrol and it is embroiled in controversy regarding its safety and many professionals are of the opinion that there are not enough human studies to make public health recommendations. Red Rice Yeast is very effective with similar composition to Lovaza, a cholesterol lowering medication. It still requires the monitoring of liver enzymes while using, same as for the prescription medication. Restozzeal show promise but no actual evidence to date that we can recommend Resveratrol for cardiac issues. Omega 3 fatty acids, as you mentioned, the range recommended can be anywhere from 500 mg - 2000 mg per day. The American Heart Association recommends the following for cholesterol reduction: 1 mg EPA and Daily Intake of DHA, preferably from fish;it appears to be good for raising HDLs and lowering triglycerides.http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/natural/993.htm Please paste the above url into your browser search engine for more information. As a RDN, I do recommend you engage omega-3 fatty acides in your daily nutritional plan. Thank you for allowing me input on your question. Kathy Shattler, MS,RDN
