Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Will Silicone Injections Treat Severe Burning On The Balls Of My Feet?
I have been diagnosed with fat pad atrophy by my podiatrist. This causes severe burning on the balls of my feet if I walk. An external silicone pad no longer provides any relief. I am looking for a doctor who can do silicone injections on the balls of my feet. My doctor is not certified to do this, and cannot purchase medical grade silicone. How can I find a podiatrist, or plastic surgeon, who could help me?
The doctors who can do this practice in New York and California mostly. Unfortunately, the effects of injected silicone are not long lasting. Even a higher "medical grade" silicone is absorbed over time, couple this with walking on it and the effect is very short lived in a matter of a couple months.
