Will Taking Benazepril Be Effective For Bloating And Abdominal Discomfort?

I am on 10 mg of benazepril. I have endured bloating and some abdominal discomfort for quite some time but thought it was ibs. I discontinued the medication for a couple of days (my blood pressure is not that high) and all the abdominal swelling went away. I took another 10 mg tablet tonight and my stomach is back to the bloated state. Is this a serious reaction? I have an appointment with my doctor to change my medication. Thank you.

Thank you for posting your query in Health Care Magic, i understand your concern.
Benazepril drug which has been prescribed for your hypertension could be a cause of your abdominal pain as it is known side effect of the drug, The bloating along with the discomfort could be due to the drug as well.
If the symptom goes away with the discontinuation of the drug , and recurs with taking it then consult with your physician for a change in the drug.
Also get an ECG, ECHO to rule out cardiac causes.
Reduce consumption of salt meanwhile.
Your history on burps / flatulence would have helped me to rule out IBS.
Consider taking capsule omez 20 mg twice daily before food to reduce the discomfort.
