Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi my iron levels are always very low, I eat iron rich food, I have been having weekly iron injections up until 2 weeks ago, the only bad thing I do is smoke marijuana does this affect my body in absorbing iron. P.s. I have cut any added sugar out of my diet recently. Cheers. Monique
Smoking weed does affect your iron blood levels. Smoking, in any form, leads to production of carbon monoxide, which binds hemoglobin, the iron carrier in the blood. It seems like you already have a tendency to low iron levels and finding the culprit is the key. Smoking weed is a contributor to this condition, so I would advice you stop this habit. Also, I advice you to take vitamin C tablets and consume food and fruit that are rich in vitamin C, like lemons, oranges, and kiwi fruit.
All the best.
