Will Tetanic Vaccine Cause The Site To Swell, Turgid And Bruise?

I am a 19 years old girl who have received a tetanic vaccine (on prevention purpose) a week ago in a private clinic. The site of injection is turgid, bruise (not red), swollen and pain. I wonder if these are the normal reactions. Could you possibly help answer my doubt?

Hello,

Tetanus vaccine is quite safe in most of the people and is rarely associated with any allergic reaction. As its over a week, the site appears swollen, bruised and painful then while administering the injection something must have went wrong or post injection did you rub the site of injection? Did your site got any trauma that went unnoticed?

You can take tablet paracetamol for the pain and inflammation for couple of days. Take sufficient rest. If the swelling and goes away you are fine. If this keeps on increasing then visit a doctor and get it examined if any infection is there. Depending on that the doctor will suggest appropriate management.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
