Will The Bp Medicines Cause Higher Level Of Triglycerides?

I am 57 yrs old and have been taking nebicard sm daily to control my BP. My cholesterol level is 233 and Triglylcerides is 211. I am not taking any other medicines. Kindly let me know if the triglycerides levels go up because of the BP medicine and if so what other medicine can I take as a substitute?

Hi & Welcome.
Nebicard SM contains a beta blocker (Nebivolol) & a calcium channel blocker Amlodipine commonly prescribed to treat high BP.
Increased cholesterol & triglycerides appear to have been caused by Nebivolol.
Beta blockers like Nebivolol can affect your cholesterol & triglyceride levels causing a slight increase in their levels. These changes often are temporary. You shouldn't abruptly stop taking a beta blocker because doing so could increase your risk of a heart attack or other heart problems.
Consult your treating doctor for an alternate but a safer medication like Losartan to lower your high BP. Hope this will help.
