Will The Nail Grow Back Normally Inspite Of My Toe Injury?
I bumped my toe about six months ago and it developed ridges across it and they are still there. The nail started coming away from the skin as the nail grew. Is this normal given I bumped it and will it eventually grow out to be smooth again? It is quite bumpy when you look at it or feel it.
Hello, Thanks for the query, Nail grows from nail matrix, which is situated below the nail plate. If the injury is severe enough to cause nail matrix damage, new nail will grow in improper fashion. Nothing can be said for now. Just wait and see how your body responds. A photograph would have helped me in giving a closer diagnosis. Please meet a dermatologist for exact diagnosis. Let me know if you have any other doubt. you can ask a direct question to me on this forum, following the below link. http://www.healthcaremagic.com/doctors/dr-rahul-kumar/64818 Wishing you a good health.
