Will The Open Sore In The Thigh-groin Crease After Oozing Brownish Liquid Heal On Its Own Or Should I See A Doctor?

I have a large cyst on the crease of my leg (where underwear rubs) that finally broke. The discharge is brownish mixed with blood does have an odor. I did have the other night some chills and slight fever before it broke but now I am not feverish. I have been putting hot compress on the area and I did put a bandage so that my underwear does not rub against the open sore.
I started to take Keflex tonight. Do I need to see a surgeon or will this close and heal on it's own. Thank you....Linda

Hi,
It would be impossible to be confident in making a judgement without examining the wound. I suggest you see a doctor for definitive advice. In the meantime, carry on with keeping it clean and regular dressing changes.
Regards,
Dr K A Pottinger,
