Will The Supplement Actalin Help To Eliminate Hypothyroidism Symptoms?
After being treated for Graves Disease with radioactive iodine, my thyroid was totally dysfunctional. I was put on Synthroid a year later. I have found over the years that I must have a high dose 200 mcg in order to keep an adequate level of T3. I was told that I probably have trouble converting T4 to T3, but most doctors rely on TSH as the end all answer and reduce my dosage to raise my TSH levels, and I immediately start experiencing all signs and symptoms of hypothyroidism. Will the supplement Actalin help eliminate these signs and symptoms?
Actalin contains supplements like L-tyrosine which helps the thyroid gland to produce more thyroid hormone. However, in your case, after the radioactive Iodine ablation thyroid gland will not be functional. So taking Actalin will not help. If you are experiencing hypothyroid symptoms, follow up with your treating physician to check TSH, T3 and T4 levels and dose adjustement of Synthyroid accordingly.
