Will The Swelling And Soreness Caused By Frostbite On Fingers Sure By Itself?

My daughter received frostbite on her fingers earlier this week. The fingers were sore the day after but yesterday were fine but a little swollen. Now the fingers are sore and swelling up even more. The skin is still the white of frostbite. She does have feeling in all her fingers and the remainder of her hand. Should I take her in to have her doctor take a look at them?

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

Treatment with warm water bath and anti inflammatory agents like ibuprofen taken three times a day should help in most cases. If the swelling and pain is not getting down by 3 days, it is better you show to doctor, as there is chance of secondary infection needing antibiotic treatment.

Meanwhile, avoid rubbing the area, and keep it clean and dry always. Prolonged hanging down also not advisable.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
