Will The Uterine Polyp Show Up In Transvaginal Scan?
hi, I have 2 questions 1) will the uterine polyp show up during a transvaginal scan during the luteal phase of Menstrual cycle? 2)both the ovaries appear polycystic in transvaginal scan while the FSH & LH hormonal levels show up normal. Is there something that need to be done in the case?
Hi, Thank you for writing to Healthcare Magic. 1. A large uterine polyp can definitely be differentiated from the secretory endometruim on ultrasound by its irregular shape and mixed echotexture. Confusion arises in case of small polyps. So when in doubt you must repeat the ultrasound immediately after your menstrual bleeding (proliferative phase).
2. About 19-33% of women have polycystic ovaries. Of these 20% will have no other symptoms and signs of polycystic ovary disease ( irregular periods, excessive hair growth on the face/ body, increased level of LH etc). If your menstrual cycles are regular and you do not have excessive hair growth on the body, then this is good news for you. there is no need for you to do anything. Be happy. I hope I have answered to your satisfaction.
