Hi I am 39 and have tonsillitus for the first time. It's been awful and I've had to take time off work, I'm
On a double dose of anti biotics. My concern is I've been told that my tonsils will now be damaged and ill end up having to have them out! Is that correct??

Hello,
Tonsils are tissue in our body to supprot for the immune system they can not be damaged . Yes due to any infection they might get swollen up or get red or congesated.
YOu need to take antibiotic for controlling the infection and then later you need to prevent from the infection .
in the very first episode of infection is not an indication for surgery. Take antibiotics .
