Will There Be Any Effect Of Taking Keppra While Conceiving?

Doctor . My wife is currently 30 and is on phenobarb for treatment of epilepsy. She has been taking the drug for past 27 years recently we have decided to get a baby and hence approached a doctor who suggested us to take keppra to avoid birth defects. We currently stopped phenobarb and are on keppra for the last 1 week. Please advice if we can proceed to get a baby in 6 months by reducing the drug.

Hi, as the drug phenobarbital has been stopped, you can try from now onwards. There is no risk in conceiving. You can try every 2 to 3 days after periods stop. Hope I have answered your question. If you have any other query I will be happy to help.
