Will There Be Damage In Spine Due To A Hit Which Caused A Knot In The Back?

My 18 month old son was stepping off the curb onto the road and he fell back and hit the curb with his low back. I was bathing him and noticed a big knot on his spine. Is this something i should get checked out or leave alone? Could he have damaged his spine or fractured it or be leaking fluid?

Hello,

I don't think that the bump is related to any spine damage, as your son is walking normally. The knot could be related to soft tissues injury. Anyway, I would recommend consulting with his pediatrician for a physical exam.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Aida Quka
