Will There Be Pain In Vagina While Sex After A Abdominal Hysterectomy?

Hi, I a, 30 years old and still a virgin. I had an abdominal hysterectomy at 28 losing both ovaries due to extreme endometriosis. Tampons were painful, doctor exams are painful. I am terrified at having sex with my boyfriend. I don't desire it for one, and it's not fair for him. Secondly that it will hurts so bad it will ruin the relationships. Any thoughts

I am Dr Nilajkumar a consultant gynecologist and I will be helping you in your queries.
It is indeed unfortunate and I understand your problem. However the answer is that it is not possible to generalize this issue. Some women may have no pain and enjoy a normal sexual life while the others may not tolerate it. So it varies from person to person and also according to indication.

The best way to know is to try and see. You can keep pain killers with you. If you feel pain that is not tolerable, then stop the episode and take some painkiller.

Remember that as you are a virgin, the first few sexual episodes may be normally painful irrespective of the hysterectomy as they involve tearing of the hymen and it takes time for the vagina to become roomy which occurs after repeated penetration only.

So I suggest that you may try it after discussing with your partner and go slowly. If you succeed then it will go a long way in keeping your relationship healthy.
