Will Weight Gain And Painful Breasts Be Due To Premarin?
I have been on HRT for 12 years. Until 4 months ago I was using Premia 2.5 continuous. A new doctor advised that due to total hysterectomy 30 years ago, should not have been on Premia so switched me to Premarin. From being thin (ish) all my life I am now stacking weight on and my breasts are very sore similar to breastfeeding. Is it likely Premarin may be contributing to my considerable weight gain and very painful breasts?

hi, Thanks for the query under HCM forum. I understand your concern. - Weight gain & breast tenderness are known side effects of Premarin. Weight gain is to be controlled by balanced, low calorie diet & exercises. -Breast tenderness is also known side effect of Premarin, which tends to reduce after prolonged use. * You had total hysterectomy.. both the ovaries being removed along with uterus, it is an artificial menopause.. I feel HRT would be better option of hormone replacement ( without risk of weight gain/ breast effects ). I would suggest to have a second opinion about t5he estrogen replacement in your case. Thanks.
