Worried About Embolus Due To Antibiotic Injection. Have Stinging Sensation. Done Tonsillectomy Surgery. Reason?

Hi Doctor,

Actually this incident happened when i was undergoing tonsillectomy surgery, there was antibiotic vial bottle(made of glass). It fell to the ground accidently. I informed it to doctor and they said it's ok and they gave me the injection. Now , I am having panic attacks. It's because i am thinking some tiny glass particles might be injected into blood.I am worried about embolus and damage to major organs. This incident happened 2 months ago. Now i am having stinging/tingling with heat/needle prick like sensation all over my body . Is it because of tiny glass particles ? i know it happens because of the panic attacks also .Suppose if glass particles are present in blood .. i should have died by now right ? or will it take more time to develop symptoms ? or will it stay there in the blood without causing any problems ? are there any tests i can under go to confirm it ? what is treatment i can get for this if it's confirmed?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
hello and welcome to HCM,

First of all let me assure you that whenever an injection is given, the solution is taken from the vial into a syringe and injected via a small needle which allows only a small amount of fluid at a time! So when even fluid takes a while to get injected where is the question of glass particle however small to be injected?

Any solid particle will immediately block the needle and no more injection can be given.

Now coming to your symptoms of pricking sensation all over the body. Thats not a very good sign although it may be nothing major and in all probability be because of your panic attack.

Nevertheless, consult your doctor who can do a complete examination and confirm that everything is honky dory with you

take care and do not worry about the glass partcles
