Worried For Black And Purple Bruise On Thigh After A Fall

My friend said she fell on the bleachers before and where she fell became swollen pretty badly. She's saying that now she's looking at it again, and its become black and purple. Its around the outer part of her thigh. Is this something serious she should go get checked?
