Would naltrexone be beneficial for treating PCOS? I am not wanting to become pregnant as I ve had a partial hysterectomy. I m just looking for something (preferably a natural alternative) to help with the weight gain, fatigue and abnormal hair growth. Thanks!
Abnormal hair growth is an indication of hormonal imbalance and PCOS. You are advised to get clinically examined by a Gynae, get required blood tests and imaging tests done. Naltrexone is not recommended for PCOS. It can help to reduce depression or pain / cramps due to PCOS. Your treating doctor will treat you with birth control pills to reduce symptoms and to regulate menstrual cycle.
Get any underlying medical condition treated like diabetes, thyroid dysfunction, acne and excessive hair growth, PID be treated. Get thyroid function tests done. Thyroid dysfunction cause fatigue. Anemia and poor general health condition also causes fatigue. Take food rich in iron & you can also take iron supplements.
