Would Keeping My Ring Finger Immobilized Alleviate The Pain I Am Feeling Upon Movement?

My ring finger on my right hand hurts to try to make a fist and if i do get it closed a little it snaps when i open my hand. I think i jammed it a while ago but am wondering if it should be immobilized more so it can heal or just keep waiting? its been about 3 or 4 weeks now. Thanks

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Immobilize the finger for few days. Ice packs can be applied for faster recovery. If pain persists better to consult an orthopedic and plan for X-ray.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
