Would The Minoxidil Foam Be Better For Me Due To Its Side Effects?
hello. I have been using minoxidil 5% for 9 years. during this time I have had rashes over my body from excessive scratching, because they were itchy. (I thought it was stress induced). I recently stopped using minoxidil (for 6 weeks) and the rash and itchiness ceased. I started using it again, and the rash and itchiness has returned. I now think it is a long term allergic reaction. would the foam be better for me?
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. If you are allergic to Minoxidil medication itself, then its use in any form like solution or gel or foam would definitely cause allergic reaction. However, you may give a try with it as the inert material used for preparation of different forms is different and you may overcome allergy if it is caused due to inert substance and not the medication. Also, you could give a try with lesser concentration of Minoxidil like 2 or 2.5%, which could make you tolerate better with lesser side effects. Otherwise, you may have to discontinue its use, in case the allergic reactions are severe and not bearable. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
