How To Heal Fall Injury Mediated Swollen And Bruised Knee?
I have a knee that is swollen from a fall maybe. Not really sure. It just became bruised and swollen. It has been over 2 weeks. I went to my family doctor. He ordered an xray and some blood work. My entire leg is swollen right to the ankle. I still work as a carpenter and I try not to bend it. What do you think it could be?

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement, Dr. Saurabh Gupta's Response
Hello, Thanks for your query. Ice: can be used to slow down the blood flow and therefore reduce swelling and pain. It is important to use it properly otherwise it can make things worse. Compression Non-steroidal anti-inflammatories eg ibuprofen may be prescribed to reduce the knee swelling. Water on the knee can be drained by your doctor with a needle, but it does sometimes come back. I do hope that you have found something helpful and I will be glad to answer any further query. Take care Warm Regards
