What Does The Scan With Two Dark Shadows On The Lung Mean?
My mum recently spent a week in hospital with a severe chest infection. Whilst in they were xraying her Chest everyday to monitor the infection. On the 3rd day we were told that something was showing on her lungs and they wanted to do a scan. The results showed 2 dark shadows, one on each lung. They said they was going to do a bronchoscopy, but instead sent her to St James hospital for a full body scan. She is 88 and as lost over half a stone in a month. Could you advise on what it may be?.

As it is we can assume what would be the reason. As you describe that they would have suspected a malignancy, in both lungs, latter they would have suspected that these may be the secondaries to some malignancy some where in the body.
Hence they have ordered for a whole body scan, to search for any malignancy some where in the body.
Give her more of green leafy vegetables, pulses, sprouts, and protein rich foods to have good maintenance of health.
