Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
what is the function of ovral L medicine.....we are planning for a baby now....n my doctor told me to start taking this pill from tomorrow that is 5th day of periods till 25th day of periods...so i want to ask can we have sex during this period or not.........thanks
Ovral-L is a combined hormonal pill which acts by development and maturation of ovarian follicles and thus suppresses ovulation (release of egg from ovary).
However, at the end of this treatment your doctor will advise you to take clomiphene citrate for 5 days to induce ovulation to facilitate release of egg from the ovary. Yes, you can have sex while taking this treatment.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
