I appreciate the answer but I don't know that you can really diagnose me as having "white matter disease" just based on these rather brief and incomplete radiologist comments on one research MRI and without other clinical and diagnostic testing.

She seems to know a lot about how the ears work. I might ask my ENT if it might help my case to take the medication that you mentioned in the last few sentences of your last reply because my crackling is chronic.

I did, indeed, have to get an appendectomy. But this website didn't send me an emailed answer as it said it would. I could have died had I not checked back in to search for her answer. But she was right and I'm recovering.
