I greatly appreciate your response and the sincerity of your effort -- that's more than her original primary care doctor provided! She has since changed doctors, and her new physician has ordered new lab tests, x-rays, and a CT scan. One lab test showed rheumatoid arthritis number of 191 (normal 0-19). Tentatively, that suggests she's suffering an extraordinarily severe attack of RA -- probably initiated by her pneumonia. She is still suffering from pneumonia, but new doctor has provide pain pills that give "some" relief from the excruciating pain.
